Frequently Asked Questions
-
How can I know if virtual therapy is right for me?Virtual Therapy- also known as Teletherapy - occurs over a HIPAA-compliant video platform such as zoom.us or doxy.me. The payers UpLift and BetterHelp provide their own platform. Teletherapy can be right for you if you: * Have access to the appropriate equipment such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer that can access the platforms. * are not experiencing suicide thoughts with plans and intent to carry them out. Some people have suicide thoughts, but it is just a thought with no intent. This should be discussed with the clinician and the appropriate steps will be taken. * are not struggling with the need for hospitalization to stabilize due to your extreme symptoms such as panic attacks. * are in the same state as the provider. Please note that Teletherapy SHOULD NOT be used as a substitute for emergency situations. If you reside in the U.S, you can text or call 988 for immediate assistance and support if you are experiencing suicide thoughts. You may also call 911.
